Changes have taken place constantly in English textbooks. Revised Senior English for China, Student's Book was first published in 2003. Language skills, language knowledge, learning strategy, attitude and emotion, etc. are all important aspects mentioned in the curriculum criteria. How to teach English effectively, paying attention to all those aspects? The use of tasks in language teaching has gained increasing acceptance in language teaching field (Nunan, 1989). What should be done in carrying out communicative task-based teaching with the new textbooks according to the new curriculum? The purpose of this research is to carry out task-based English teaching with BOOK 1A of the new textbook series. And the scope of this thesis is intentionally limited to research concerning evaluating the impacts of task-based English language teaching on students' motivation and scores with BOOK 1A of Revised Senior English for China, Student's Book(2003).In an attempt to study the impacts of task-based teaching in English language teaching, the researcher set some tasks and paid attention to teaching goals, input and communicative activities. During the research, the researcher observed the students' performance in English class, did some interviews, made a comparison between the pre-questionnaire (See Appendix 1: Pre- questionnaire) and the post-questionnaire (See Appendix 2), and compared the subjects' ranking places of mean scores among the eight classes of the same grade. Then an analysis of the data was made. The following are the main findings:1. The ranking place of the mean scores of the experiment class changes for the better.
