Language is a tool for communication. Fostering students'communicative competence is the final goal of English teaching. Ever since to reform in China, Chinese students have learned English for a considerably long time, and great achievements can be seen everywhere in consequence. However, influenced by test-education system, in the primary school many teachers still pay too much attention to explain language points, and students are busying coping with what the teacher says. Students are in a passive position during the whole period of classroom teaching and their enthusiasm is restricted. In addition, students have few chances to practice the language in class. As a result, the communicative competence, especially the oral communicative ability of the primary school students are inferior, which is obviously deviated away from the ultimate goal of learning a foreign language. With China entering the WTO and the rapid process it has made, China will need more and more talents who have very good communicative competence. So, the following question has been thought by many teachers for a long time: how to improve the students'oral communicative competence?Interaction is the collaborative exchange of thoughts, feelings, or ideas between two or more people resulting in a reciprocal effect on each other, which is a very important point in the study of second language acquisition. Classroom interaction refers to the harmonious resonance of teaching and learning, with teacher as leaders and students as subjects. Classroom activities should be constructed by both teachers and students, and English is really used as a tool for communication. The writer applied the interaction language teaching into the teaching, and it's proved to be very effective in developing the students'oral communicative ability.Based on the writer's years of teaching practice and the current state of English teaching in primary school, this thesis analyzes the kinds of factors that influence students'development of communicative competence. It also discusses the theoretical bases of interaction from the perspectives of psychology and second language acquisition, and attempts to closely combine these theories with classroom English teaching in order to explore new ways to enhance students'communicative competence.
