Cooperative Learning has been regarded as one of the most efficient teaching strategies and proved effective in improving social skills and writing ability in countries with English as a second language or a native language. Does Cooperative Learning suit the situation of China in teaching English writing in Senior middle school? What outcomes can cooperative writing lead to through a period of training? And does the training affect learners'writing proficiency improvement? These questions are the main concern of the present researcher. To support the research, tests and questionnaires are carried out to gather related information, and data analysis reveals the following findings:1. Cooperative Learing is effective in stimulating students'interest and enthusiasm for writing and has a positive effect on senior high school students'writing proficiency2. Learners'self confidence in English learning is enhanced and their anxiety about writing in English is greatly reduced through cooperative learning. Teaching writing becomes easy.This thesis is just a work in progress. The researcher hope it will make a small contribution toward meeting the present needs, especially in the implementation of New Curriculum all over China.
