Cooperative learning was started at the beginning of the 1970s in the USA, and it is regarded as a kind of teaching theory and strategy system which is full of creativities and good teaching effects. Since if can make psychological atmosphere in class better, improve the students'scores and develop the good qualities of the students, it is paid more attention by people all over the world. It has become one of the main teaching theories and strategies. So people honored it as"the most important and successful teaching innovation in recent ten years".English writing is a course of cognition. Writing is the communicational ability of written language expression and information transmutation. It can reflect the students'abilities of using the language more objectively. But in the previous language teaching field, English writing has been ignored for a long time, reading is paid more attention by many people, including some English experts. Besides, the students are afraid of English writing, they show little interest. So their English writing level is so low.So on the bases of analysising the advantages of cooperative learning and studying my own teaching reflections by the writer, the writer thinks the theory of cooperative theory can be combined with the English writing teaching, and points out that a cooperative writing model in teaching writing.The basic steps are following: offering tasks—understanding demands—group discussion—cooperative writing—peer editing and teacher commenting. In detail, in the step of offering tasks, the teacher should make each student know the writing task very well. In the step of understanding demands, the teacher makes sure that each student understands the writing demand clearly. In the step of group discussion, the teacher can divide the students into several groups or the students divide themselves into several groups. Each student can think freely, make up sentences freely, then discuss together, select good opinions, good sentences. In the step of writing, the students can write, revise, draft according to the opinions of the teachers or groups. It can develop their conscious of group and their own creativity. Furthermore it can help them find out some problems of their own or their group. In the step of teacher commenting, the teacher asks every group to show their compositions and comment on the content and structure of the article. The teacher should praise good compositions and then put them up on the wall. In this way, each student would like to write it cooperatively for himself or herself and for their group. Cooperative learning in English class is based on the modern social psychological education and cognition. It is also based on studying and making use of human beings relationship in class. It is guided by designed plan, it is motivated by cooperation between the teacher and the students, or among the students. It is completed through group activities. It is evaluated in the form of the whole group score. Its purpose is to improve the students'writing ability, improve the social atmosphere in class, and form good psychological qualities and social skills.Using cooperative writing can motive the students'writing interest, it can also develop and improve the students'writing ability.The research puts the cooperative learning into the English teaching writing, hoping to prove this kind of teaching method through experiments and tried using this method in the future English teaching. The researcher carried out this experimental study in Senior English high school. One class named the"experimental class"uses the cooperative method of learning . The other class named"the control class"uses the traditional method. The experimental methods are following: (1)using testing (pre-test, post-test), (2) questionnaire, (3)note fields. After the experiments, the final result is following, the students in the experimental class have improved their writing ability more than that in the control class, meanwhile, cooperative conscious, group conscious, self-confidence, learning motivation, learning interest and relationship among the students are all improved greatly.The researcher concludes here that the result of the experiment proves that cooperative English writing can improve the students'English writing ability and level and it can contribute a lot to English teaching. The experiment proves the correctness of the previous hypothes. The experiment also proves cooperative learning can promote English writing teaching. It gives the practical base for improving senior English teaching quality in the future.
