In the English language education, the importance of culture teaching has been widely recognized. There are diverse propositions and arguments about concerning the integration of culture in foreign language teaching. It is complicated since the answer relies on our understanding of the theory of communicative competence, the relationship between language and culture, and the importance of practicing culture teaching in the English classroom. In china, English language teaching is highly valued, English teaching has paid more attention to cultural factors. Culture has been listed as one of the teaching contents and goals. However, it is unfortunate up to now that no agreement has been reached in terms of how to effectively cultivate learners'cultural awareness in EFL teaching and learning. Culture teaching needs being imperatively improved. Inspired by the above discussion and have been teaching in secondary vocational school for about ten years, the researcher selects the topic of"on the cultivation of cultural awareness in English teaching at secondary vocational schools"as the study in the Master's program.The paper is composed of four chapters:Chapter One is a brief historical review of culture teaching in foreign language teaching in the west and the trends of teaching of culture in the area within the western tradition and it briefly reviews the history, current situation and problems of culture teaching in the English class of Chinese secondary vocational schools.Chapter Two summarizes and comments on some relevant theories for the paper, which includes the definition of language and culture, the relationship between them, and the significance of cultural awareness cultivation in SVS.Chapter Three is the major part of the paper, which conduct a test to find out the current situation about Chinese secondary vocational school students'language and cultural knowledge to get more information about the present status of teaching and learning English as a foreign language in terms of the development of cultivating students'cultural awareness.Chapter four puts forward some proposals on English culture teaching as to how to integrate the English culture teaching into the English language education to cultivate students'cultural awareness.
