As the weak group, poor university students get more and more care from the whole society. Some concerning departments or bureaus of the General Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, continuously issued series of policy and measures to imburse them. Almost all the universities lay more stress on the imbursing to poor university students. Thus step by step we build the integrated system of scholarship, loan for students, work-study fund, subsidy for special difficulties and tuition waiver for imbursing the poor university student. At the same time, many different spheres in society donate money and goods to them to support them in finishing their study. However, it's far from enough to help them simply on material assistance since they need much more understanding and care for their inner-hearted world. At present poor university students are appeared various of mental problems when facing study, work, economics and affection. It will seriously effect their healthy growth without prompt solution.This research aims to acquire the basic mental data of poor university student group of Weifang University by the method of questionnaire. We can have a basal cognition and estimation on this point. Thus we can use the effective method in helping them rightly understand the poverty problem, acknowledge and evaluate themselves comprehensively, build the mind of Self-respect, Self-improvement and Self-confident, and let them take part in the group-activity actively, improve the study efficiency, and fully explode their mental potential, thus to improve the mental health.This research mainly use the Symptom Self-judge Data Sheet (SCL-90 Data Sheet) which was built in 1975 by L.Derogatis and edited in 1984 by Wang Zhengyu of Shanghai Mental Health Center. Comparing method is used in comparing: general health level between poor university students & non-poor university students, different mental health level between different groups among poor university students, including different mental health level between male poor university students and female ones, different mental health level between poor university students of arts and of science, different mental health level between poor university students from city and from countryside., different mental health level between poor university students from different grades.As showed by the research, all data in SCL-90 by poor university student has higher equal level and standard difference than non-poor university students. The data of sensitivity, dumps and mental disease is different to salience. The data of force, worriment and crankness is different to salience. The data of fears and other items, poor university students have more problems than non-poor ones, and the difference is salient. The female poor university students has more mental problems than male ones, especially on the fears data. The poor university students of art have more mental problems than those of science. The poor university students from city have more mental problems than those from countryside. Yet little difference showed between different grades of poor university students.On basis of the mental problems existed among the poor university students, we must research on its cause of formation and improve the education countermeasure. The cause of formation: I. Ingredients from family environment; II. Ingredients of warp on acknowledge; including the character aberrance caused by warp on acknowledge on oneself, and the lack of society responsibility caused by warp on acknowledge on the society; III. Ingredients from the whole environment of society, including behindhand culture and education background, heavy economic burden, economical culture and the reform on distribute system of high schools. Educating countermeasures: seven combine, that is to say, combine the basic economic imbursing with the education from schooling environment; combine the work-study encouraging with building the mind of self-respect; combine popularization with pertinency of the mental health education; combine the ideology education with mental health education; combine the exterior guiding with self-adjustment; combine the traditional education of mental health with internet education; combine the education from family with that from school.
