Mr. Hu Wenzhong ever said that language was one manifestation of culture and it was impossible to learn English well if you did not know the culture of English and American. Just like what he said, culture teaching has become an important part of English teaching, and numerous strategies of culture learning are created by these famous scholars at home and aboard one after the other.Teaching strategies are important means to facilitate teaching. Whether the application of teaching strategies is good or not will affect the result of students'learning and the achievement of teachers'teaching goal. And a proper application of teaching strategies differs according to different time and different people.This research investigates the situation of culture teaching in senior high school, including the setup of the instructional program, selection of the content of English teaching materials, teaching status of teachers and learning status of students, through the observation of the English classes of a class in grade two in a senior high school; and puts forward some culture teaching strategies that are suitable for the learners of high schools according to the situations mentioned above.This dissertation is composed of five parts.First, proposition of the question. This dissertation explains the relative concepts involving culture, relation between language and culture, relation between language teaching and culture teaching; reviews achievements on culture teaching, and according to observation and analysis of the existing materials, the survey presents the problems existing in English teaching in senior high schools that there are not so many strategies brought into effect because of some restrictions although the variety of strategies of culture teaching. Then, it illustrates the purpose and significance of the essay.Second, the situation of English teaching in senior high school. According to materials analysis and observation, this dissertation recounts and analyses the situation of culture teaching in senior high school, including the evolvement of instructional program, selection of contents of English book, teacher's culture teaching, situation of student's learning, hopefully finding out the obstructions in the implementation of culture teaching in senior high schools.Third, culture teaching strategies in the teaching of words and grammar. This dissertation sets forth culture teaching strategies in the teaching of words and in the teaching of grammar respectively.Fourth, culture teaching strategies in the teaching of listening and spoken language. This dissertation sets forth culture teaching strategies in the teaching of listening and in the teaching of spoken language respectively.Fifth, culture teaching strategies in the teaching of reading and writing. This dissertation sets forth culture teaching strategies in the teaching of reading and in the teaching of writing respectively.
