| People speaking different languages and in different backgrounds communicate more closely with the trends of globalization. Business field, politic field, as well as tourism field needs intercultural communication. This demands language learner not only master linguistic knowledge, but also language culture background knowledge. Do high school students totally accept English culture? How to cultivate their culture awareness? This paper analyzes the current statement of culture awareness training status through empirical study of test papers adoption, questionnaires analysis, and lesson study. The author points out as English learners, high school students should master and respect English culture awareness, but not internalize them. Teacher should estimate culture awareness goal and cultivate it effectively.This paper contains four chapters. The first chapter introduces the study background and defines the purpose and content. The second chapter introduces the basic theories of culture awareness. It defines culture and culture awareness, and points out the theory foundation of relative schools: Philosophy, Pedagogy, Psychology, Linguistic, and Intercultural Communication. It proposes training goal, principle and content from the reference of curriculum standard, text book, College Entrance Examination. The third chapter is the empirical study of culture awareness training status. It concludes the common errors in students'practical writings and studies current status of culture awareness training. Then it points out the problems that firstly, there is gap in training and testing culture awareness. Secondly, the implementation of culture awareness goals lacks of support. Thirdly, there is limited experience in the teachers themselves. Lastly, there are culture adaptation problems in the students themselves. In the fourth chapter, the author concerning her own teaching experience suggests five culture awareness training tactics. In the aspect of testing culture awareness training, it points out ways to reform the system and content of College Entrance Examination. In the aspect of training culture awareness in class, it points out tactics of implementing training goals properly, analyzing the text books deeply, and using culture teaching method correctly. In the aspect of training culture awareness after class, it points out ways of reading original literature books, surfing internet, organizing culture topic speech. In the aspect of developing curriculum resources, it points out setting up a database of English culture knowledge, establishing optional courses. In the aspect of professional development of teachers, it points out teachers should expand their knowledge, develop their teaching skills, and strengthen their professional faith. |
