| Since the New Compendium of P.E. for National Higher Education was carried out, P.E. has been changed a lot in the past three years. However, there still exist some problems in teaching, for instance, unfair phenomena in teaching, teachers and textbooks and class-centered teaching mode which haven't been improved; and as far as teaching goals, P.E. only stresses the cognitive ones while, about contents of courses, many teachers regard them as teaching materials which are considered as the fundamental way to reach the best results. And what's more, though students have free rights to take courses, select teachers and time for classes, the practical problems in teaching can't be thoroughly resolved. So if these problems can't be settled, they must, to a great extent, influence the realization of new teaching goals. As to the student-centered method of teaching, it is the target activities that can enable teachers and students to communicate with each other, to realize the value of life. During the process of teaching, students are actively involved in the variety of activities, including drawing up teaching programs, aims, contents, the arrangement of activities, the teaching itself and assessment while teachers are closely engaged in these activities between students and teachers. In the whole teaching system, both teachers and students accomplish their tasks centered on students' work and self-development.The article consists of four parts---introduction, literature statement, research results and related analysis, and conclusion. It studies the student-centered teaching method in the public table-tennis program on the basis of literatures, questionnaires, and teaching experiments. With this method, it requires us to transform traditional relationship between teachers and students into the multi-interactions. About contents of courses, they should be based on and suited to students' abilities. As students themselves, they must take active part in every step in teaching, like making teaching plans, goals, preparation for classes, warm-up activities, new courses, review and ending of classes, which can put the student-centered method into complete use. And at the same time, this teaching method can contribute a lot to students: students are able to join various sports activities, develop the habit of self-physical training through their lives; they can master basic techniques and skills, and take exercises in scientific ways; they can form good behaviors and sound life; they can voluntarily improve their state of mind, overcome psychological barriers, and gradually build up active and optimistic attitudes toward work and life; they can be free to experience interests and successes in sports; and they can smoothly establish the good social relationships. |
