Children's readiness for school is an important research topic and the basicobjective for preschool education. And the parental belief on children's schoolreadiness, as a great part of the research of school readiness, has theoretical andpractical significance.This thesis intends to conduct a comprehensive and systematic survey on thissubject by document retrieval, interviewing and questionnaire investigation.369 kindergarten and the first grade children's parents are chosen as the object ofthis study in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Zhengzhou. The research results are as thefollowing, (1)During different aging classes, those two categories of parents do notdemonstrate significant difference in terms of their overall belief on the content ofchildren's school readiness, while significant difference is detected in different items.And their beliefs on the adaptation difficulties and the determinant factors of schoolreadiness are significantly different. (2)In terms of determinant factors of the parents'belief on the school readiness, parents with different education levels, careers, andincomes are significant determinants. The gender of the parents demonstratessignificant difference in terms of overall parents' beliefs, but significant difference isshown in terms of children's social and emotional development. The gender of childand the status of being single child are not found to be significant determinants forparents' beliefs on children's school readiness.Therefore, it is concluded that the kindergarten children's parents' beliefs on the adaptation difficulties and the determinant factors of school readiness are different fromthe first grade children's parents. And the parent's belief on children's school readiness,as the most important part of the research, is influenced by education levels, careers,and incomes of their own. It is suggested that with improvement of the qualities ofparents, change of idea and more cooperation with the school, the project of children'sschool readiness will be more successful,...
