In the field of social stratification , economic status is an important research aspect , many sociologists regard the economic as the most important index to define the stratification . Karl Marx once viewed the economic relationship as the only index to define the class . This case didn't change until Weber raised the three aspects of power which included economic order , social order and political order . This three dimension of the division of class started the new page of stratification . The later researchers simplify the three aspects as class, status and power which broke the Karl Marx one dimension structure , and made the social stratification have the possibility to develop .In 2004 , I did the occupation prestige research in Chang Chun City China, there were 530 interviewees included in this research , and the valid questionnaires are 500 . From that research , I got the macro-level occupation prestige stratification in Chang Chun . In addition , I found that the occupation prestige in Chang Chun was different from the China occupation prestige in terms of the research in 1999 by Xu Xinxin , especially in the prestige of elite groups. Because in 2004 I didn't do the depth research to relate other variables with the differences , for the continuity and systematicness of research , I will still use the prescription data of 2004 , and add nine interview cases to research the depth reason why people evaluated the occupation in different ways. In the questionnaire there are 69 kinds of occupations, which mainly utilized Xu Xinxin's work . In the work of"Look at the Structure Transition in China from the Aspect of Evaluation of Occupation Prestige"(Xu Xinxin,1999) , the research questionnaire was adviced by the famous professors , such as Dai Jianzhong, Li Peilin, Li Qiang, Shen Yuan. Hence it was more scientific to use this questionnaire directly .In 2004 research, I found that in China the occupation prestige of elite groups changed obviously , however, all the analysis in 2004 was the single variable descriptive analysis , didn't think about the relationship between the variables , it was difficult to do the depth analysis , hence , this time I will compare the relationship between variables . Social Stratification is the subjective views of people , however, behind the evaluation , there exist different reasons , for instance , different living environment , living style , gender, income and the self– experience are all possible to make them have the same or different evaluation . Hence, I compared the variables from four aspects , such as age, gender, education degree and income and tried to find out the differences of evaluation between the different elite groups . Because sixty nine occupations are so many that if I analysis all of them , I will lose the main direction , I only selected the elite groups whose occupation prestige changed too much as the analysis and compare objects. Through the comparing and analysis of the different social groups , I found that the common value and the most important social institution still were the popular reasons , however during the research I also found that , the past researchers often ignored the influence of the individual requirement on the evaluation of occupation prestige . However , I found that this was an important motive to give the different evaluations. The individual requirement can influence on the evaluation of occupation too . Occupation is a very important need of individuals , which often is beyond the individual interest . The modern society carry out the bureaucracy , which mainly distribute the labors according to the need of structure , but not consider the individual need , people is only the button of the society , and the realization of individual value often is ignored ,however , in this thesis I found individual requirement can influence on the evaluation of occupation , which is also an innovation of this thesis . On the other hand , I couldn't deny that there exist defects in this thesis , such as the numbers of occupations are limited , in the future study , I am going to compensate the deficiency.
