Function Logic Of Postgraduate Organizations At Institutions Of Higher Learning

Due to the enlargement of admission school leavers to institutions of higher learning, the structure of students in these institutions has changed tremendously. With the scale of postgraduate students increasing greatly year by year, the postgraduate groups' role become more and more prominent in the process of construction universities and colleges. The status and functions of postgraduate organizations, especially the postgraduate student unions, stand out day by day.By the way of field research, this thesis truly displays a postgraduate union's daily management and other work. The research not only develops a new perspective to study postgraduate organizations, but also provides some experience from which we can learn something about the current college postgraduate organizations and draw some lessons for future work.The thesis can be divided into five parts. Part 1 (Chapter 1 and Chapter 2) provides some background information about postgraduate student union, including the background of the University and its subordinate College to which the union belongs, system environment , the characteristics of the postgraduate sections as well as the union's developing process . Part 2 (Chapter3, Chapter 4 and Chapter 5) describes how the union functions from aspects of union members, exchanging information and how they collect and use funds respectively. Part 3 (Chapter 6 and Chapter 7) describes how the union functions from the time and space scope and its detailed management process in which the union carries out activities. Part 4 (Chapter 8) presents different notions and views toward the union's properties and functions by interviewing people of different groups. Part 5 (Chapter 9) is the summary of the thesis. The author believes postgraduate unions possess their special features. In daily life, however, the postgraduate unions' origination function diminish, the autonomous properties lessen, itself become over administrative and reduce to the lowest segment of the student management organization. The postgraduate unions sustain and develop in the cracks.
