| Tasked-based teaching method, which was developed in 1980s, is a branch of communicative teaching approach. Using this method, teachers can design specific tasks and can do tasks according to certain communicative language items. Networked learning environment can bring colorful teaching materials to class instruction. In this thesis, the author briefly introduces TBLT through careful review of the literature concerned. Based on investigation into and research on the implementation of TBLT in the reading class of Senior High School, the author analyzes the necessity and feasibility of the penetration into Internet-assisted TBLT. In combination of teaching practice, this study attempts to present the ideal way of implementing task-based reading instruction with the aid of the Internet so that students' reading competence will be improved. Finally, the issue of integrating the Internet in TBLT process is carefully considered.Advocators of TBLT claim that learners can develop communicative competence by carrying out various tasks. As to what a task is, many scholars have different interpretations from different perspectives. Nunan proposes that a task has six elements: goal; input; activity; role of teacher; role of student; setting. The rationale for TBLT is the theory of Second Language Acquisition and the theory of Social Construction. Skehan advocates intermediate approach to TBLT implementation, based on the strengths of structure-oriented approach and communication-driven approach. In one way, English teaching in China is reading instruction. Reading class serves as a chief ground for TBLT implementation. With the ongoing experiment of TBLT, the contribution of TBLT to reading instruction is apparent. Based on the experimental data, the author believes that the Internet can solve some of the problems and serve as a bridge between classroom and the world. The Internet as a TBLT aid solves the following three problems: Firstly, analysis of necessity and feasibility. Requirement of information age, developing trend of foreign language teaching, practical condition of EFL teaching in China and something else make the integration of the Internet into classroom a necessity. What's more, it is feasible in theory, technology and equipment. Secondly, the aid of the Internet. There are three chief aids: 1.The Internet provides myriads of resources, which are up-to-date and easily accessible; 2. The Internet helps create a setting, which is hard to appreciate in traditional classroom; 3. Various activities enrich the models of TBLT implementation. Thirdly, penetration into Internet-assisted TBLT reading class. In this part, the author uses a table to describe what happens in the reading class. Without doubt, a surprising result will be obtained if the Internet is integrated into task-based reading class.Having consulted some types of tasks designed by Prabhu and Willis, the author designs the following tasks: predicting and guessing tasks; listing tasks; comparing tasks; ordering and sorting tasks; comparing tasks; Jigsaw tasks; Memory challenge tasks; Restoration tasks Information-gap tasks ;Opinion-exchange tasks ;Decision-making tasks; Problem-solving tasks; Creative tasks .the author also recommends some models of Internet-aided task implementation.Network aided-TBLT is much more helpful in the areas whose teaching conditions are not sufficient. Meanwhile, we should realize that internet-aided teaching is also imperfect and should not rely on too much on it.This paper is to bring out the interests of our students, tries to help them build self confidence and develop their self-study ability. Thus they can have efficient studying strategy. The students can study in a new and happy environment. With the accomplishment of tasks of different level, they can master the language better. |
