Computer-assisted language learning could reduce the anxiety of students and turns out to be a positive side of learning. Students can adjust themselves in learning English with the aid of multimedia computers and through interaction between students and multimedia. The lack of genuine language teaching environment in the EFL classroom has greatly hindered the effective language teaching and learning in China. At present, the center-teacher teaching is still a widely used approach. Though multimedia has been used in the English-teaching, many teachers still haven't use it properly. Students'learning is passive and dependent. So, we find it necessary to design an alternative learning environment where genuine learning can take place. The aim of this thesis is to show English Reading Teaching under the multimedia, which can provide such a new mode for language learning--English Reading Teaching can be promoted.Nowadays there is a constructivism theory guided by Vygosky, through advanced multimedia, an ideal second language study environment will be built. The constructivist approach views knowledge as an entity, which is mentally constructed via the actions and experiences that the learner undergoes with the immediate learning and broaden social environments. Constructivists emphasize the importance of language in communication with people. It is by the method that language culture is transmitted. Understanding, applying-learning occurs. This provides a sound theoretical base for the present research---English Reading Teaching with assistant of multimedia. With the development of information technology, especially the emergence of the network, multimedia assisted language learning has become one of the most significant areas of innovation in language education. To enhance learning, the environment should be constructed in a way that enhances the continual adaptation of the learner's mental schema to the external environment through consistent interactions. Viability, perturbation in relation to learners'perception of knowledge viability, and social negotiations, are the central features that the instructional designer must meet with respect to constructivism. Today we talk about the way of using multimedia for RT.This thesis discusses the significance of the radical shift from the monologic use of language. Language learning based on the multimedia as an option of such an environment is suggested in this thesis. This paper aims at exploring the effects of English Reading Teaching under the multimedia. The impacts of multimedia-based language environment on the English Reading Teaching are shown as follow:(1) How is the effectiveness of reading training under the assistant with multimedia related to the reading proficiency of the students?(2) Can the multimedia improve English Reading Teaching in the senior high school ? This research indicates that English reading teaching under the multimedia is help for resuming students'confidence, improving their study initiative and active nature and strengthening their consciousness of culture and knowledge. This kind of study will fit students. Students may hold positive attitude toward this mode of study. In addition, it is also found that the method of English reading teaching in the senior high school still needs much improvement.
