Due to the impact and influence of information technology on society and education, computer-assisted language learning is becoming the trend in foreign language teaching. Interactive computer network allows students to test the result of learning without the risk of being punished for any mistake. Learning does not have to be a pressure. Computer-assisted language learning could reduce the anxiety of students and turns out be a positive side of learning. Students can adjust themselves in learning English with the aid of multimedia computers and interaction between students and multimedia.Nowadays, there is a research that with guidance of constructivism, though advanced multimedia and internet communication system, an ideal second language study environment will be built. The constructivist approach views knowledge as an entity, which is mentally constructed via the actions and experiences that the learner undergoes with the immediate learning and broader social environments. Knowledge is actively constructed by the interaction between the learner and external objects through adaptation of and to the experiential world. This means the study process will change from centering on teacher to centering on students and more consideration will be taken into the students' individual difference to help different students carry individualized study. Thus, the students' initiative and active nature will be fully playedAfter reading some reference, understanding the theory of construction study, the development of language teaching aide by computer and some related theories, I found, in China, the theoretical research of foreign language teaching aided by computer is more while the practical evidence is less. Especially in the vocational schools, the research about the computer-human interactive individualized teaching though internet is indeed little. To enhance learning, the environment should be constructed in a manner that enhances the continual adaptation of the learner's mental schema to the external environment through consistent interactions. Viability, perturbation in relation to learners' perception of knowledge viability, and social negotiations, are the central features that the instructional designer must meet with respect to constructivism. At present, the situation of English teaching in vocational school is not very optimistic. The most obvious problem is that students' study levels are various, confidence is less and the initiative is not enough. Centered on teachers, providing a teaching mode with the same content can not satisfy the students' needs. Thus, it isnecessary to carry out individualized study in teaching. This paper aims at exploring the influence from individualized study mode based on internet, on the English learning of vocational school students. The impacts of networked-based language environment on students are shown as follows: (1) If networked-based individual language environment is advantageous to resume students' confidence? (2) Whether networked-based individual language environment may advance students' initiative in study. (3) Does networked-based individual learning environment promote students' learner autonomy? (4) Does networked-based individual learning environment promote student's cultural awareness? (5) The attitudes of the students about the individual environmentThe relationship between students and teachers in internet teaching are discussed. The study was conducted in a new experiment course titled Individualized Human Computer Interact learning at Dalian Light Industry School in the autumn semester of 2004. Some questionnaires were developed and later analyzed to ascertain the presence of constructivist principles in the experiment course.A mixed research approach was used in this study. According to the analysis of data collecting from questionnaires, observation, computer recording and monitoring, interview, this research indicates that taking internet individualized study is helpful for resuming students' confidence, improving their study initiative and active nature and strengthening their consciousness of culture and knowledge. This kind of study will fit students with different ways of study. Students may hold positive attitude toward this mode of study. In addition, it is also found that the initiative study ability of vocational school students still needs much improvement. This paper also provides some suggests for further improvements in the communicative language teaching approach and computer-assisted language learning used in this study.
