In the foreign language learning and teaching reform process, assessment on learners is urgent to be studied and solved problem. People have become accustomed to weight all students with the same standard, this overemphasizes the importance of the score, but neglects students' study process and progress which they make, lacks the humanist development viewpoint. Many students feel anxious and inferior because they pay too much attention to the exam results, and it is disadvantageous to their self-confidence raising, seriously has affected learner autonomy development.English teaching and learning should undertake the responsibility to develop learner autonomy and help them learn to cooperate with others and raises their social sense of responsibility in the teaching and learning process. To assess the students study results and effects should assess the students studying process and the effective results. Only depending on changing teaching method to change the student passive study manners is insufficient. Therefore, to choose formative assessment method and transform summative assessment to formative assessment can help students raise active study manners and autonomous study .The experiment has used the observation, the meters, portfolios, questionnaires, conferences ,interviews, teachers logs to collect data. From the different angles, the experiment reflects students' study and the progress and enable the students to obtain promptly feeds back, enable the students to have the opportunity to know their own merits, the progress as well as the insufficiency, and help the students make study plan. The student has the opportunity to realize success, the study enthusiasm has enhanced, and learner autonomy has improved.The practice and experiment has proved that assessment way has the tremendous influence to the students. In order to stimulate the students positive study manners and the motivation , strengthen the learner autonomy, the teacher should improve own quality , thus to improve English teaching quality of the junior high school .
