The Studies On The Strategies Of The Colleges And Universities' Scientific Research In Guangxi To Serve The Local Economy

The 21^st century is the age of knowledge economy which is the mark of network technology and high-tech industry. The present status of the nation depends on the production and propagation of innovative knowledge and the extent of use it. For colleges and universities, the way of boosting the development of knowledge economy is to discover new knowledge by doing scientific research and creating new science technology to provide it with intellective support besides cultivating persons with ability.Guangxi is certain to accept the challenge inevitably from the world living in the era. As a result, Guangxi, a less-developed comparatively region, needs to rely on the level of scientific research of local colleges and universities which play a leading role in knowledge production and innovation of science technology as well as the contribution rate of scientific achievements to knowledge economy. Therefore, how to guide local colleges and universities to deal with correctly the relation between teaching and scientific research; how to show local colleges and universities to have the consciousness of making scientific research beneficial to economy development and correspond with local government and enterprises is a subject of historical significance which has an important impact on whether Guangxi will have got greater economic development in knowledge economy.Under these circumstances, the present writer in this thesis did investigation on 17 colleges and universities in Guangxi by adopting the method of historical documents, interview and comparative analysis etc. and made a survey on the developmental state of scientific research in colleges and universities in Guangxi and make analysis of the situation of serving local economic development, particularly probed deep into the present state and the reason why scientific research in colleges and universities in Guangxi can't adapt to regional economic development. Consequently, the present writer put forward the constructive strategies orientating to present development, especially tentative ideas of how local universities develop their scientific research and serve economic development, which also offer theoretical reference and foundation for the development of scientific research in other western universities.This thesis mainly consists of six parts:Part 1 serves as the introduction which mostly includes the background, the purpose and the significance, the content and the form which colleges and universities at home and abroad have in scientific research, the present situation as well as the objects, the methods and the process of the research.Part 2 acts as the background which colleges and universities in Guangxi serve local economy development. The specific requirements for colleges and universities in scientific research in time when the strategies of revitalizing China through science and education have been put forward and the national innovation system has been set up as well as the great task undertaken by colleges and universities in Guangxi in local economic construction.Part 3 is about the present situation which colleges and universities in Guangxi serve local economic development. According to statistic analysis and by comparing of the information got from the interview, by reviewing the history and discussing the achievements and disadvantages of local universities and colleges'serving local economic development, the present writer concludes idiographic ways for various colleges and universities in their serving local economy. Meanwhile, the present writer points out the obvious problems existing in the relation between local universities'and colleges'functions of scientific research and economic construction.Analysis of the causes that limits colleges and universities in Guangxi in serving local economic development is included in Part 4. In this part, the present writer analyzes the causes in many ways, such as funds devotion, self- development of colleges and universities, government, corporations, etc.In Part 5, the strategies available to colleges and universities in Guangxi in serving local economic development are discussed, which include the following aspects: 1) Create the outer surroundings which are available to universities'and institutes'serving local economic development; 2) Enhance cooperation between colleges and universities and corporations in scientific research; 3) Improve universities'and institutes'level and competence of scientific research in serving local economic construction; 4) Correspond to the relation between scientific research and teaching in colleges and universities.Under the guidance of scientific concept of development, the present writer attempts to probe into concretely the present situation of scientific research in colleges and universities in Guangxi and the function and role which colleges and universities play in Guangxi in serving local economic development from the microcosmic angle and come up with the attitude and the strategies of how to make colleges and universities in Guangxi serve local economic development better on what has been achieved.
