Studies On The Factors Affecting The Development Of High-level Basketball Teams In The Institutions Of Higher Learning In Guangxi

The first Chinese Boy College Students Basketball Super League Matches (or Basketball League Matches for short) is another college student basketball competition jointly sponsored by Chinese College Students Sports Association and Chinese Basketball Association. The Basketball League Matches allows for participation by youth players from specialized teams, and adopts the system of host and guest courts rotating once a week, making high demands for college basketball teams in various aspects. The Basketball League Matches has played a positive role in college basketball development, and manifests a far-reaching significance to Chinese basketball reform.Over recent years, college high-level basketball teams in Guangxi have been poor in general terms, tended to be on a low level, and experienced a bigger and bigger gap with high-level basketball teams participating in the Basketball League Matches. This research project was designed to improve the quality of college basketball teams in Guangxi, narrow their gap with high-level basketball teams, and strive for early participation in the Basketball League Matches, achieving a substantial leap forward in the level of college basketball teams in Guangxi within a short time and realizing rapid basketball popularization and enhancement in colleges. The author made an in-depth investigation of talent training, college leaders'attention, training management and college infrastructure in relation to high-level basketball teams in Guangxi as well as some participators of the Basketball League Matches in the north and south regions, collected a great deal of related data by means of literature retrieval questionnaires, field visits and phone calls, and conducted a comparative analysis of the data by mathematical statistics and comparison.The study showed that the college high-level basketball teams in Guangxi had a big gap with those participating in the Basketball League Matches in various aspects, and the gap could explain the factors affecting participation in the Basketball League Matches by the institutions of higher learning in Guangxi. An analysis of the affecting factors led to the following conclusions:1. The members of Guangxi's college high-level basketball teams are generally short but have clear technical tactics characterized by swift actions and brawniness. However, the overall level of the college basketball teams tended to decline in recent two years.2. Comparison of Guangxi's college basketball teams and Basketball League Matches participatory teams showed that trainers and players are poor in quality, responsible college leaders attach no great importance, and many shortages exist for team building, training, and goods supply, constituting a hindrance to the development of Guangxi's college basketball teams and their participation in the Basketball League Matches.
