A Probe Into The Concept Of Parenting In The Context Of Changes In Urban Family Life Style

Targeted at 42 parents with kids aged from 6 to 16 years old, living in Wuhan, this paper investigates through interviews the differences between modem urban families and traditional ones in the following six dimensions: family structure, family environment, family life pace, family consumption style and entertainment ways. Based on the results of the investigation, this paper further studies the statuesque of the breeding concepts of modern parents mainly from the perspectives of parents' way of thinking to kids (initiative and education), concept of parent-kid relationships( equality awareness and family climate), concept of breeding(competitiveness and innovation) and concept of talent(competence awareness and schooling and job selection). All the data got from the investigation has been analyzed statistically through the software SPSS11.5. It first describes the characteristics of the life styles of modern families with the following conclusions: (1) Core family trend in family structure;(2) humanization and comfortalization in family environment;(3) Equalization in parent-kid relationship;(4) Acceleration in family life pace; (5) Fashionization in family consumption style; (6) collectivelization and diversification in family entertainment ways.Through interviews found that changes in the modern family life under the concept of parental parents become more rational, more pragmatic. Parents of children in self awareness, the awareness of equality, the sense of competition, strength, and this has embodied the spiritual level, especially the parents of competition, and obviously increased their sense of strength, and specifically to children throughout the course of training. Modern families of the children of parents in the education and training, create a family atmosphere, innovation and development, education and other careers on the performance of specific acts of a more concrete and more patience, more practical. Case analysis on the use of parent-child parents, and talent was studied and found that: (1) Although modern families accelerate the pace of life, the husband and wife self-satisfaction of the demand increase, but the parents of children showed a positive attitude, know how to experience the feelings of children, child care emotions. (2) the concept of talent parents tend rational, not superstition achievement. Parents tend to view reality talent in the highly competitive modern society, the increasing employment pressure, intensified competition in the workplace, children's life skills valued by the parents, parents become an important manifestation of the concept of talent one. The concept of talent and parents of children with growing convergence of preferences, no longer to the expectations and preferences of adults to ask children, but to their children's happiness for the basic points, more parents advocacy joyful learning, fun and happy lifeTo conclude, this paper discusse the changes in family life styles and the concept of parenting in this context and suggestions and ideas are put forwarded to the existing problems.
