| Social skills is the prerequisite ability for children with developmental disabilities to inclusive of society.The development of social skills not only requires professional intervention training,but is also affected by family,school and society.As a significant place for individual growth and development,the family plays an important role in the socialization and individual development of children.According to Bronfenbrenner’s theory of interaction between people and environment,the family function as a remote environment for communication to people,subtly affect the growth and development of family members.For children in the family,parents directly educate to prompt children’s development.Based on the above background,this research focuses on the development of children’s social skills,explores the impact of the remote environment and near-end parenting about the social development of children from the perspective of the family.The study first investigates the parents of children with developmental disabilities from Guangzhou,Sichuan,Shandong,Chongqing,Jiangsu,Beijing and other regions for the status quo of family function,parenting style and social skill by the "Family functioning Scale","Parenting Style Questionnaire" and "Children’s Social Skills with Parent Scale".Secondly,the study in-depth interviews for 9 parents of children with developmental disabilities to understand the affecting factors of social skills by a semi-structured interview outline.The results of the study are as follows:(1)The family function of children with developmental disabilities is at an intermediate level.The parenting style of children is mainly democratic,followed by spoiling and autocratic,and finally unattended.The development level of social skills of children with developmental disabilities is lower overall.(2)The family function,parenting style and social skill level of children with developmental disabilities are significantly different in the age of the child,the type of child disorder,the location of the household registration,the educational background of the parents,and the monthly family income.(3)There is a significant positive correlation between family functions of children with developmental disabilities and social skills;family functions of children with developmental disabilities are significantly positively correlated with democratic parenting;the social skills of children with developmental disabilities are significantly positively correlated with democratic parenting,there is a significant negative correlation with spoiling parenting.(4)Democratic parenting has a partial mediating effect between family function and social skills of children with developmental disabilities.(5)Spoiling parental has a masking effect on family function and social skills of children with developmental disabilities.(6)Factors affecting social skills include: family,school,and support from all parties.Based on the above research results,this research proposes the following suggestions for children’s social skills:(1)Create a relaxed family atmosphere and build a learning family;(2)Implement parent training to provide support for scientific parenting;(3)Distinguish true and fake,and participate Intervention training in formal institutions regularly and quantitatively;(4)Enhance public awareness and bring children to participate in diversified outdoor activities. |
