| This paper raises the question from the facts found in the teaching practice. Many senior middle school students can't adjust their English-leaning methods to what are actually needed in the senior middle school English-learning at their starting period, especially in senior Grade One. They can't adapt themselves to their English teachers'learning methods which leads to the reports'decline and the cohesion problem between junior and senior middle school English teaching, so the paper tries to open the beach at the senior and college entrance examinations, which are the most serious factors that affect basic English teaching. In theory it tries to analyze what is a test, the kinds of tests and their different functions to language teaching, the connection between tests and language teaching as well as the cohesion between junior and senior English teaching, in which the emphasis is laid upon the huge backwash of test to teaching. And from the practice side the paper tries to draw the conclusion through comparing the contents of senior middle school entrance examination with that of college entrance examination, so as to find the differences between them and look for the reasons why they bring in the cohesion problem, we ensure that senior middle school entrance examination is too easy, text-centered, little focus on language-using ability, are the main factors that lead to the incoherence. Then the paper shows the different parts that are not connected with each other in the incoherence problem, and furthermore it tries to inquire into some practical ways of solving it from the angel of testing. And besides, the paper also appeals to the society for the necessity of reforming the senior school entrance examination, and meanwhile appeals to our middle school language teachers, never just fix their eyes only upon tests, but also the cohesion of students'permanent development. |
