To enhance university students'innovation ability and raise innovative talents, university should implement research-based teaching and carry on studies on it. Research-based teaching in university refers to the teaching method that, based on the teaching materials and the accumulated knowledge of the students, by combining the teaching,researching and practice, the teacher guides the students to do the research work after selecting and deciding the subjects from special study fields or real life situation while creatively applying their experience and expertise, thereby helps students to accomplish their knowledge acquisition,abilities cultivation and mind training through research work.By using a few research methods such as literature investigation, questionnaire survey and interview, this dissertation widely investigated the current situation of research-based teaching in university and found that it is far from optimistic with its poor implementation and narrow advocating scope. The whys comes downs to two aspects as follows:The subjective causes are leaders', teachers'and students'. Leaders'education idea is deviated. Teachers'perception is dislocated, enthusiasm is low, being restricted by traditional thinking mode and behavior habits, being limited by self-quality,time and energy. Students'wrong conception, relying heavily on traditional teaching mode, lacking attainment for doing scientific research and being afraid of difficulties. The objective causes are imperfect teaching management, unreasonable appraisal mechanism, poor teacher training arrangement, education resources shortage, rigid teaching material system.To promote more effective implementation of research-based teaching in university, the following strategies should be adopted: teachers should change their ideas and upgrade self qualities and abilities; students should raise research interests,convert their roles,master basic research skills and foster the will to scientific research; all parts of university should build research-based teaching circumstances and atmosphere, establish and support the safeguard system and strengthen hardware construction.
