Quite a long time, there have been a lot academic arguments on the mass culture, whose quick development has smashed the privilege of the elite culture. Moreover it has a great influence on the growth of youngsters and school culture, which consequently has a big impact on Chinese teaching.Under the background of the New Curriculum Reform and on the basis of former study of mass culture, I try to express my opinion of it through this essay. That contains the summary of mass culture's characters, the survey of different opinions on it from teachers and students, argument on the possibility of the combination of mass culture and Chinese teaching, etc.Actually, we can divide the combination into these branches, the resources of curriculum, the base of writing, the teaching forms, and special activities, which can open up a brand new way to Chinese teaching.This essay should contain seven parts:The first part is the beginning, focusing on the meaning, means, content and creations of this essay.The second part is the summarization of the study of mass culture and Chinese teaching, focusing on the characters of mass culture.The third part is the historical basis of the combination of the two, focusing on the contrast and contrary between the history of mass culture and the phenomena of pursuit of stars, the relations of mass culture and elite culture, and many a relations between Chinese teaching and mass culture.The fourth part is the realistic foundation of the combination of the two, focusing on the results of the survey on the attitudes of teachers and students about mass culture and their expectations of Chinese teaching.The fifth part is the academic basis of the combination, focusing on the possibility with the help of the concept of the New Curriculum Reform and some western teaching theories.The sixty part is the practice and exploration of the combination, focusing on the means of the combination from these angles, the resources of curriculum, the teaching forms, and special activities.The seventh part is some thoughts on the bad impact of mass culture on Chinese teaching due to its shortcomings, and some advice for making full use of mass culture.The combination and mass culture and Chinese teaching is a specific attempt to make the classes of Chinese teaching more active, which has great significance of making students concerned about the society. However, the shortcomings of mass culture require more efforts of Chinese teachers who are devoted to the study of this kind.
