The Present Situation Of Freshmen Education In Colleges And Universities And Reform Strategies

When students enter college after graduation from middle school, they can't adapt to the new life because of the change of environment. In the turning-point developing period education organizations undertake important responsibilities. Freshmen education is the important measures for college to help students realize the self-surpass and its effects have important influences on the development of individuals. The study based on the examples of a college in central area of China does some analyses, studies the basic conditions of the freshman education and existing problems. It hopes that it can give some profitable enlightenments that can improve the level of freshman education.The first part is to arrange the reliable concepts and the present state of freshman education home and abroad and give the basic definition of freshman education, then point out that the central problem of freshman education is to solve deficiency of individual students and that freshman education is valuable for the development of individuals, the correction of basic education and high education and the management of college students.The second part presents the basic situations of freshman education of this college in recent years through data collection, questionnaire, and interview and states the problems that exist in this college. Then the paper points out that there are education deficiencies in this college, such as management notions are backward, management institutions are centralized, management practice is lack of creation.The third part draws conclusions from the research that work must be done from three points in order to improve the situations of freshman education overall. Firstly, rebuild faith system of freshman education. secondly, set up open management system and management system that experts participate in making policies, the collection of information and evaluation. Thirdly, rebuild the practice system of freshman education, construct multi-level and systematic education system, enrich education contents and improve education methods.
