The quality of teacher is the quality of professional ethics ,educational concept, culture and ability of English for doing one's duty and finishing one's educating task. There existed dialectical relation between teachers and the implementation of new curriculum. To improve the quality of teachers has become the key to the success of new curriculum reform. There existed bigger gap between the present situation of the quality of English teachers in junior middle school and the needs of the implementation of new curriculum. Based on the theoretical research and investigation research, this thesis has investigated the present situation of the quality of English teachers in junior middle school and thought a lot about improving the quality of English teachers in junior middle school in the implementation of new curriculum.The thesis consists of five parts. The first part is an introduction. I explained the reason of making the research as well as the thinking, the method, the important point, the difficult point and value of the research. I also summarized the related documents. The second part is theoretical research. At first, I explained the meanings of quality, teacher quality, English teacher quality, curriculum implementation and junior middle school. Then, I probed into the features of English course and students in junior middle school as well as the special features of the standard of English curriculum. At last, based on the features, I analyzed the qualities of professional ethics, educational concept, culture and ability of English teachers in junior middle school in the implementation of new curriculum. The third part is investigation research. Based on the factors and contents which have been analyzed in the second part, I investigated the quality of English teachers in eighteen junior middle schools in LongNan City of GanSu Province. Then, I counted and analyzed the results of investigation. At last, I found the fact that there existed bigger gap between the present situation of the quality of English teachers in junior middle school and the needs of the implementation of new curriculum. The fourth part is thought and suggestion. Based on the conclusion of investigation and the features of area and English course in junior middle school, some suggestions have been advocated on the improvement of the quality of English teachers in middle school in the implementation of new curriculum the quality of professional ethics must be raised, the educational concepts and namely, teaching behaviors must be changed by carrying out the training of new curriculum, the quality of culture must be perfected by changing the courses offered in the continued education, the quality of ability must be perfected by carrying out the school-based training. Meanwhile, the system of self-education must be constructed in order to develop the consciousness and ability of all—life education.
