The development of educational informationization and basic education reform demands teachers increasing their teaching abilities. Preservice teachers are tomorrow's teachers and main reserve for K-12 teachers in the future. Their teaching abilities not only determine the speed of teachers' professional development and quality, but also affect the future quality of education and the quality of students. The pre-service goal is to cultivate the high-quality teachers to adapt to teaching practice in the primary and secondary schools. Therefore, they not only need to know "what to teach", but also know "how to teach". That is, the basic knowledge and skills of teaching must be developed. But according to observation and questionnaire survey, druing implementation it is a universal phenomenon that the teaching theory is isolated from practice and teaching practice capability is rarely training. It is difficult for us to arrange courses and teaching reforms, while even more difficult is to acquire the resource and environment fit for training teachers' teaching abilities.The background provides us the inner motivity and reason to start the research. In this paper, we design and apply video cases for preservice teacher education. Focusing on it, we fulfill four aspects:The first is theoretical interpretation. The relevant literature on the theoretical issues is reviewed, for clarifying the research objects and the relationship of cultivation of pre-teachers teaching ability between video case teaching. Then we synthesise the development of video case in china and abroad, and clearly their experiences of design and application. Finally, the value and meaning of the theories are analysed for designing and utilising video cases.The second is demand analysis. We investigate the teaching abilities of pre-service of teachers, and analysize of their needs. It provides reference for us to construct video cases for pre-service teacher education.The third is design and development.Combining with findings of reflection, we analysize the learning needs, the concept of designing video cases and functional structures for presevice teacher education. Based on the methodology of developmental research, we construct the resource of video cases.The fourth is application and evaluation. We do an experiment whose objects are undergraduates majoring in educational technology in Zhejiang Normal University. This chapter introduces the the teaching activities of the research process, including the choice of subjects, the teaching model and process. Finally, according the questionnaire survey and data on the Web site, we discuss and reflect the effectiveness of resources.Through theoretical investigation and concrete evidence study, a referenced research framework for design and application of video cases in presevice teacher education is offered in this dissertation. At the same time, this study conducts a useful experiment to change the cultivation of current pre-service teachers teaching ability only relying on theoretical study or skills training, effectively assist teachers to adapt to the teaching ability ,which the new curriculum require, and shorten the period of the teaching profession.
