Research On Distribution Of Universities' Enrolments

To form and improve regional innovation capacity, to develop regional economy, to realize the aim"education affair", we need to make the universities adapt to regional economy and population. So we need to have a research on distribution of universities'enrolments.The research first analyzes the relationship between the universities'enrolments and regional economy and population in China and the USA by calculating the data of universities'enrolments and regional economy and population. Secondly the research calculates the different levels of the distribution of universities'enrolments by the Theil index. Thirdly the research has a study on the factors which are relate to the distribution of universities'enrolments. Finally the research gives fives suggestions.The results of the research are:(1) the universities'enrolments adapt the provinces'economy and population well, but the universities'enrolments do not adapt so well with the cities'economy and population; the distribution of research universities'scale is quite unbalanced. (2) The distribution of undergraduates between different cities has a closer relationship with regional economy than population; the distribution of graduates is very unbalanced; the difference of distribution is mainly caused by the difference between cities rather than provinces. (3) There are 3 important factors and they are regional economy and population, enrolments of universities. Besides, politics, history and geography also relate to the distribution of universities'enrolments.
