| With the development of higher education and the reform of educational system in recent years, teachers in institutions of higher learning, who bear the huge responsibility of cultivating talents for our country, have been confronted with many opportunities and challenges. However, the problem of job burnout influenced teachers'physical and psychological health,and has become a substantial cause for teaching weariness, which in turn has led to waste and loss of invisible educational resources directly. Therefore, to care for teachers'harmonious development in both body and mind and to promote the progress of China's educational career, enough attention should be paid to the problem about job burnout on teachers in institutions of higher learning.But unfortunately a mature measuring scale about job burnout on teachers in institutions of higher learning has yet to be invented in China, which renders it hard to carry out deep research into job burnout on teachers. Therefore, it is urgent to compile a scientific and canonical tool to measure job burnout on teachers in institutions of higher learning.Based on wide research into references and data both at home and abroad, interviews with teachers in IHL as well as results of questionnaires, a scale named"Scale for Job Burnout on Teachers in IHL"has been complied, which consists of 37 items. After repeated measurements and revision, the statistical test is shown as follows:1. DiscriminationThe subtests between high groups and low groups are highly differentiated, which demonstrates sound discrimination.2. Scale validity(1) Content validity: We measured the correlation between total scale and subtests, and the result showed the correlation between total scale and subtests is high. Therefore, content validity of the scale can meet the demands of workout. (2) Construct validity: After factor analysis ,the construct is found to be fine.3. Scale reliability(1)Homogeneity reliability: The internal reliability is very satisfactory (Cronbachα=0.9539,subtests'Cronbachα=0.8932~0.9301).(2)Split-half reliability: The split-half reliability of gross scale is 0.8037, which shows the content measured is homologous.Investigations have been made on 300 teachers in IHL with the self-made"Scale for Job Burnout on Teachers in IHL", and the results are as follows:1.In general, the average overall value is 53.6282(SD=23.25732), SD shows significant individual differences.2.The characteristics of job burnout on teachers in IHL:(1) In terms of total score of the scale, teachers in IHL with vice-senior titles and middle titles score much higher than that of teachers in IHL with primary titles.(2) In terms of score of the organizational dehumanization scale, teachers in IHL with middle titles score much higher than that of teachers in IHL with primary titles.(3) In terms of score of reduced personal accomplishment scale, teachers in IHL with vice-senior titles and middle titles score much higher than that of teachers in IHL with primary titles.(4) In terms of score of researching exhaustion scale, teachers in IHL with a bachelor and master degree score much higher than those with a doctoral degree. |
