Urbanite's Educational Attainment And The Determinants

Using data from 550 urbanite in Hangzhou city, this article describes the educational attainment of urbanite and its determinants.Using the measures of association to analyze the influence of some factors on the educational attainment of urbanite, it shows that following factors have strong relativity on it ,such as ascriptive factors, whether to choose excellent schools, teachers'attitude, whether to study intensively and whether to be up-and-coming.Using the Multiple Linear Regression to analyze the influence of some factors on educational attainment of urbanite, it finds that following factors have remarkable effect on it ,such as the vocation of mothers, the educational level of mothers , the income of fathers, whether to tutor, whether to choose excellent schools, teachers'attitude and whether to study intensively. Thereinto, tutoring has negative influence on the educational attainment of urbanite.These findings lead to such a conclusion on the educational attainment of urbanite. That is, ascriptive factors (family background) still have a strong effect on urbanite'educational attainment, and teachers'attitude plays an important role on it . In addition, achievemental factors appear to affect urbanite'educational attainment.
