With the development of the society, learning means not only to accumulate knowledge but also to utility resources. Under the theory of self-regulated learning, it is significant to the self-regulated learner who is facing the complex academic tasks to be good at making full use of the resources. It will make a big difference whether the learner can get help from others or how to get help, when there are some problems the learner can't solve by himself.Academic help-seeking has been one of the main research topics in educational psychology since 1980's. Based on the modern motivation theory, the influencing factors of the academic help-seeking were studied by researchers at home and abroad. Most researchers treat the academic help-seeking as the learning strategy. In fact, during the course of help-seeking , it is not only a learning strategy ,but also a social interaction between individuals. So , it could be affected by those social factors .At present ,the study on the effects of social factors is quite rare. This paper is emphasis on the effects of the social factors on the academic help-seeking .Data were collected via questionnaires administered to a sample of 325 students from three colleges in Wuhan. The study analyses the effects of achievement goals and self- efficacy on the academic help-seeking behavior, the social factors including social goals and interpersonal communication self-efficacy were considered .The results of this study are as follows:1 Most college students take the actively methods to solve the academic difficulty . and there are more than half of students to use the adaptive help-seeking. As for the object asking help for, most students are apt to ask the classmate for help, and seldom ask the teacher.2 The sex differences don't exist in academic help-seeking of college students.3 The grade differences exist in instrumental academic help-seeking .4 The academic achievement differences exist in instrumental academic help-seeking .5 Academic self-efficacy was positively related to instrumental help-seeking, it was negatively related to executive help-seeking and help-avoidance.6 Instrumental help-seeking was positively related to mastery goals and performance-approach goals. Executive help-seeking was positively related to performance-avoidance goals, negatively related to performance-approach goals and mastery goals. Help-avoidance was positively related to performance-avoidance goals, negatively related to mastery goals.7 Instrumental help-seeking was positively related to interpersonal communication self-efficacy and social goals. Executive help-seeking was positively related to interpersonal communication self-efficacy. Help-avoidance was negatively related to social goals.8 Social goals and interpersonal communication self-efficacy have different effects on the academic help-seeking behavior, social goals can predict instrumental help-seeking, at the same time, interpersonal communication self-efficacy can predict executive academic help-seeking.
