In the background of the popularization of higher education, it is necessary to coordinate the relation between the quantity expansion and quality control in the field of higher education. Thus, we should construct a relative perfect system of higher education evaluation. The programmatic accreditation which stems from America is an important part of the higher education evaluation system. Nevertheless, in the system of higher education evaluation in China, the programmatic accreditation is failed to design. Hence, it is of great importance to study on constructing the programmatic accreditation system of higher education in China. The methods of studies including documentary researches and comparative studies are adopted in this dissertation, which is trying to propose ideas on constructing the programmatic accreditation system of higher education in China by an analysis of a successful case from America and an exploration of the programmatic accreditation domestic.The dissertation contains five parts. The first part aims to introduce the background, significance and the methods of this research. The second part starts with the definition of the relative concept including"higher education","program","evaluation","accreditation"and"programmatic accreditation". And the importance of the programmatic accreditation is also discussed in this part. The third part is the case of America, which studies the programmatic accreditation of America in a deep going way, and the strong point of the programmatic accreditation of America is summed up in this part. The forth part is the exploration in China, this part analyzes the practice of programmatic accreditation in our country, the achievements and shortcomings of the programmatic accreditation in our country are also analyzed in this part. The last part is the thoughts on constructing the programmatic accreditation system of higher education in China, which is based on the successful experience of America and the actual situation of China.
