On The School P.E Of The Period From The Late Qing Dynasty To The Early Republic Of China In Xiang Sheng

The period from the late Qing Dynasty to the beginning of the Republic of China is not only a key time for the turning and revolution of politics, economic and cultural education in modern times but also a particular time for the development of the P.E. As an important region of Reform Movement of 1898, Xiang Sheng attracts worldwide attention. With the title of " On the School Physical Education (P.E) of the late Qing Dynasty in Xiang Sheng " this paper, taking " School PE in Xiang Sheng " as its research object, mainly describes the cause, the general situations ,characteristics, educational meaning as well as limitation of its formation and development , aiming at hunting for the headstream and venation of the School PE in Xiang Sheng and enriching achievements in research of School PE in Xiang Sheng . And the author uses several methods, such as researching documents, field survey, visiting experts and logical discursion, completely exploring and objectively commenting the policy, decree and practice of the School PE in Xiang Sheng.This paper is chiefly discussed from four parts: the first part, as the basis of the following text, is "introduction ", analyzing the background and meaning of this study, concluding, and summarizing the leading references, research methods as well as the main content. The second is about "the cause of School P.E in Xiang Sheng". The author finds the formation and development of social, cultural and educational cause of School PE in Xiang Sheng,by consulting a large number of documents related to the source. Then the third part is about "the general situations of School PE in Xiang Sheng", by the way of consulting documents, describing and analyzing the general situations of School PE in Xiang Sheng from several aspects, such as educational organization and system, the tenet of running a school, the installation and design of a Physical course, the content and method of one course, the persons qualified to teach and equipment of a school, field and establishment. The fourth part is on"characteristics of School P.E in Xiang Sheng". According to the historical documents, the author objectively comments some outstanding characteristics in this special period, such as the characteristic of era and alternation, that of relative advancement and completion, that of diversity and phase, primary and immature characteristic, oneness and imitation .While in the last part, the author, makes researches on the educational meaning of School PE from the following five aspects: laying a foundation of modern PE in Hunan, bringing in western advanced PE, starting to bring up the persons qualified to teach PE, establishing the position of PE and forming the PE educational system. Besides, it also expatiates the limitation of School PE in view of the facts: overrunning the trend of thought in militarism education, neglecting traditional physical culture and imitating completely the foreign physical culture.
