Under the background of Positive Psychology, Chinese Cultural Psychology and life education and based on the perspective of psychological integrity, a scale of meaning in life among college students was primarily developed in this research to discuss the structure of meaning in life of college students and its development characteristic. After reviewing on relative literatures, collecting the ideas of meaning in life in Chinese culture psychology and combining open-ended questionnaire investigation and interviews, the theoretical structure of meaning in life of college students was formed. Featured by Chinese culture,7 factors were constructed—target, fanaticism, affection of hometown, love, experience, kindness and taboo, then, defined their experimental definition. Guided by this theoretical structure,120 items were created. The pre-test questionnaire judged by professors was used to test 400 college students, and the pre-test data was analyzed by SPSS 11.5. After item analysis and EFA, the formal scale composed of 7 factors (cumulative variance contribution was 55.419%), totally 26 items was developed ultimately.1000 college students were tested by the formal scale, and its internal consistency coefficient, half-test reliability and test-retest reliability were from 0.60—0.85; meanwhile, the construct fit indexes provided by Amos 4.0 all met the requirements of psychometrics (NFI=0.982, TLI=0.984, CFI=0.987). This scale was negatively related to the criterions scale (the negative emotion scale of the emotion scale, r=-0.187, P<0.05).Besides, this research mainly discussed the individual difference of gender, grade, major and hometown, and results were:(1) There were significant differences on gender in the whole scale and fanaticism factor;(2) Grade differences were on different factors;(3) Major differences were only on love factor;(4) Because of the impact of sub-culture in north and south China, the region difference really existed. So, north people and south people who were influenced by that sub-culture constructed their meaning in life differently.The results of this research not only enriched native psychometric tools, but also broadened the extension of the theoretical study of meaning in life. Meanwhile, the research provided some evidence to the life education among college students.
