| The purposes of this study are to know the status quo of the preschool teachers' professional competency by developing A Questionnaire of Preschool Teachers' Professional Competency,and to make suggestions according to the results of investigation in the view of teacher training.The study has been done mainly through investigation based on questionnaire,and assisted by interviews and observations. In the study,715 preschool teachers from five districts of Chongqing are recruited through stratified random sampling.The results are as follows:I .The complicated concept——prechool teachers' professional competency contains many different levels and aspects,and it's mainly composed of the following ten aspects:teaching ability,children assessment ability,self-deveopment ability,the ability to cooperate with parents,the ability to collaborate with collegues,teaching evaluation ability,the ability to develop teaching resources,teaching reflective ability,the ability to communicate with children and organize routins.II. The designed questionaire is satisfying in the three indexes of reliability,validity and distinction,but the validity stiill can be better.III. The professional competency of preschool teachers in Chongqing is totally above the middle level,however the every ability develops very differently. Thereinto,the ability to collaborate with collegues is the best,and teaching reflective ability is the worst.IV. The professional competency of preschool teachers get better as the teaching age becomes higher. 10 and 20 years are both the milestones of the developing process of preschool teachers' professional competency.The teachers with 20 years' teaching experience do better than the ones with about 10 years' teaching age in the abilities to teach,evaluate teaching,develop teaching resources,reflect teaching and assess children.V. The trained teachers do better than the untrained teachers,especially in the abilities to teach,evaluate teaching,cooperate with parents,collaborate with collegues and develop teaching resources.VI. The teachers in the public kindergartens do better than both of the ones in the civil kindergartens and private kindergartens ,especilly in the abilities of teaching,self-development,cooperating with collegues,organizing routins and developing teaching resources.However,both of the teachers in the public kindergartens and civil kindergartens do better than the ones in the private kindergartens in the teaching reflective ability. |
