The present study explored the professional competence that preschoolteachers should be equipped with. The whole essay depicted the omni-directionalthree-dimensional structure of teachers’ professional competence basing on twoperformance levels(excellent&general) and two time points(mature period&immature period of professional development). In the aspect of ability structure, weused the method of Behavioral Event Interview(BEI), besides, we combinedqualitative research and quantitative research organically. In the aspect of criterionsample, we selected excellent teachers from demonstration kindergartens andgeneral teachers from secondary kindergartens as different performance levels.Further, we selected teachers owning9-12years’ experience and3-4years’experience to investigate the relationship between years of teaching and professionalcompetence.The results:1. In the comparative study between excellent and generalteachers, we summarized10professional competences on excellent teachers,including self-confidence, conceptual thinking, sense of trust, student management,influence, developing others, team collaboration, occupational preference, ability ofcontrol and sense of responsibility. In addition, we also refined12competences ongeneral teachers, these were challenge, respect for others, analyticity thinking,motivation of promoting, information seeking, flexibility, innovation, RelationshipBuilding, Understanding others, self-control, professional knowledge and skills andself-evaluation.2. In the study on years of teaching, we found that the scores ofteachers owning9-12years’ experience on motivation of promoting was significantlyhigher than these of teachers owning3-4years’ experience on the excellent group.Also, we found that the scores of teachers owning9-12years’ experience oninformation searching was significantly higher than these of teachers owning3-4years’ experience on the common group.
