The purpose of Mathematics Education is to fully play a role in imparting knowledge and educating students and promoting students'all-around development.《Math Curriculum Criterion for Gerneral Sennior High School》points out that it is aimed at developing students'interest in Mathematics learning, building up confidence in learning and improving the self-expression and communication skills. And it attaches great importance to both the learning process and the changes in emotion, attitudes and values.Keeping a diary means a form of writing down how a student deals with what he or she has learned, including the actual feelings for the learning. It is a new learning approach, which helps form a good learning habit, developing students'creativity, exploration and self-examination. Also it helps establish a good relationship between teachers and students, bettering the understanding of each other. Thus teachers may have a right judge on students'learning and adopt a more effective teaching methods to meet the demands of students. Keeping a diary is based on individuals and is good for Quality-oriented Education.The paper elaborates on the significance and value of keeping a diary of mathematics learning under the direction of A.H. Maslow Hierarchy of Needs Theory, Constructivism Theory and Humanism Theory, consulting the relative research home and abroad, according to the actual Mathematics teaching and learning in Senior Middle School,The exploration goes in the following four aspects:First, keeping a diary of mathematics learning is becoming an urgency and a tendency of modern Mathematics education. The writer elaborates this according to the practice of keeping a diary of mathematics learning and her own teaching experience, as well as the students'demand for self-learning, teaching reforms and a new relationship between teachers and students.Second, analyzing the types and features of keeping a diary of mathematics learning, this paper elaborates the principles and functions. Keeping a diary plays such roles as interest stimulation, communication, exploration, self-supervision, self-examination and self-evaluation. And it follows such principles as initiative, general, individual and mutual effect.Third, by means of questionnaire get to know students'learning habit and feelings for Mathematics learning and according to the actual teaching, explore how to keep a diary of mathematics learning. Do research and analysis on experiment classes and non-experiment classes.Fourth, by means of contrast analysis, questionnaire and case study make the following conclusion: a. Keeping a diary of mathematics learning stimulates students'interest in learning Mathematics , changes the ways of learning, helps build up their own learning files. It also helps students regain the initiative in learning, and have a better understanding and memory of what they have learned. Thus they learn how to summarize and be responsible for the learning.b. Keeping a diary of mathematics learning develops the communication skills, and improves the communication and cooperation with teachers. It helps teachers have a better understanding of students and get feedback in time, thus suit the instruction to the different individuals and enjoy an effective teaching result.
