The Current Situation Of Men's Basketball And The Countermeasures Research In Hebei Province

Basketball has a history of nearly 100 years since 1891 which is deliberately created in the United States of Massachusetts, Springfield YMCA School. Willard Lyon was sent to China as first general manager by American international Christianity youth's association with the task of introducing the basketball into Tianjin city. Since then, the basketball game was widespread all over the county. Basketball activities gradually became active in the large, medium-sized, small school in the major cities. The level of the basketball exercises has improved a lot since 1926. In the 10th world man's basketball Tournament, China's basketball team defeated a number of strong teams in Europe and America, won the ninth. This is historic breakthrough of China's modern basketball. At that time Tianjin city has not yet upgraded to Tianjin municipalities which belongs to Hebei Province. Therefore, Hebei Province is the birthplace of basketball and has a unique advantage a strategic position in sports development. After the glory period of men's basketball activities in 1950s, late 1980s and early 1990s, men's basketball activities in Hebei province have declined. Even their competition results have dropped to B degree in the previous national competition from 1995 to 2007 since the competition system of men's basketball had been reformed.Some research methods have been applied in this thesis, Such as the method of documents, interviewing, data analysis, logic analysis etc. This thesis deals with leaders, trainers and players in Hebei men's basketball team, basketball team of different ranks of sports school, schools with traditional basketball, schools entitled to enroll the special students. By investigating current situation of women's basketball tournament in Hebei province and analyzing and researching the basketball development policy in Hebei, we then come to the following conclusions:1. Man's basketball of Hebei province has certain history and crowd's foundation. Being subjected to the gold medal strategy, the government section doesn't pay much attention to basketball which leads to its low level of development. But Hebei team has recommended a lot of excellent athletes to our national team. Having developed under different conditions, the developments of man's basket in different cities are unbalanced and dissimilar. The better teams are in the cities of Tangshan, Shijiazhuang, Baoding, Handan and so on. They play a very important role in developing, spreading and expanding it.2. Hebei team exists in the form of a club with the investment of Hebei Tangshan QingQuan Company and staff members of Athletics Bureau. The leaders of basketball-training units in different class pay less attention to the spare talented athletes. Its fund is in lack and the source is unitary while the quality of gym and equipments is poor.3. The provincial basketball team attends a little times of games, especially the large-scale national games; the few groups of the reserves have little times to take part in the games. Besides, most of the players are of low rank; and the gap among different teams is huge. All of the above renders the fact that it doesn't create a good contest environment.4. The training system of Hebei provincial basketball players is not perfect. The training channel is single; most players from different levels of schools are selected to the juvenile team and provincial team later. Besides, most of the traditional-school players enter into higher schools. This kind of situation causes that the training system of Hebei basketball can't join the three leveled groups together. It shows that the selection and training system is unreasonable.5. The management system of man's basketball in Hebei is relatively ossified and the system of training and management is lack of flexibility. The contradiction between study and training of the sports school and the traditional school members is kind of severe. Also, examine and supervision management and selection system are not enough perfect. The prize and punishment regulation for the coach are eagerly wanted. 6. The age structure of all coaches is basically reasonable. They do their job enthusiastically with a high and respect-work spirit, but they lack of opportunities to further their studies, to receive training and to communicate, lest the training opportunities of advanced level. The non-systematic and non-scientific training project causes a low level training. Salary and benefit of coaches are generally under standard level. Besides university, professors with high academic qualifications and titles are of a small amount. What's more, their researching ability is generally weak.7. Compared with the first eight CBA players, the players in men's basketball team of province are weak in physical condition and getting old. Tall players are very much needed in sports school at all levels and the traditional men's basketball schools. Players with national Grade II in sports and those whose ability are above that level are in a small amount. Besides, these players are less educated in culture and other subjects. The training time for players in university and traditional sports school can not be ensured.This paper deals with the current situation of Hebei men's basketball. After investigation, analysis and study of this kind of situation, some suggestions have been proposed to develop Hebei men's basketball movement, aiming at provide scientific basis and references for Hebei basketball administrative department to make plans and regulations, as well as for coaches to train and select players.
