For a long period of time, people have always contacted mathematics with exactness. Mathematics has won public acceptation with its logicality in structure, preciseness of the reasoning and certainty of the conclusion as well. However, with the development of computer science, people have begun to attach more and more importance to approximate theory and plausible reasoning in mathematics, which has brought new tasks for mathematics teaching: cultivation and development of estimating ability. At present, there are not many research productions about the ability of estimation in China, especially fewer theses about how to improve the students'estimating ability. Based on this, this research sparkplugs that teachers should value the teaching method of estimating process in teaching practice in order to improve students'estimating ability and to promote their thinking ability of mathematics. The key point of the research focuses on some problems as follows:(1)Which are the teaching strategies and principles of valuing estimating process? How can these teaching strategies and principles be carried out so as to accelerate students'estimating ability?(2)Can the teaching method of valuing the process of estimation be helpful to improve senior students'estimating ability?Concretely, taking predecessors'multi-angled awareness of estimation (computational estimation ) as theoretical grounds, and combining his own teaching practice, with the purpose of improving students'estimating ability, the author firstly put forward three principles about estimating process teaching (1)activity principle; (2) penetrability principle ;(3)question principle and three teaching strategies of estimating process:(1)means: taking questioning to lead students to estimate (2)core: exposing estimation activity process; (3)key points: instructing students'estimation strategies.Secondly, on the basis of these principles and strategies, with a view to develop students'estimating ability , combining his own teaching practice about estimating process, the author made several teaching suggestions.Eventually, by means of experimenting research, the author proved it beneficial to improve students'estimating ability to value estimating process teaching. Meanwhile, the author exploited a few teaching courses on the aim of improving students'estimating ability, hoping to offer other teachers some useful reference.
