The training of students' innovative ability has been studied in Thispaper in physics learning from the aspects of the theory and practice ofsenior physics teaching. The psychological structure and the moderntheoretical basis of innovative ability on the base of research conclusionsand many years' teaching experiences has also been studied. This papertries to provide some valuable information, which is based on the studyabout students, teachers, in-class, out-of-class, teaching models, the testestimating system and so on. The paper includes five parts.Firstly, this paper has reviewed the present situation aboutinnovative ability study and held the opinion that it is necessary, urgentand important to study it. Not only the concept of innovative ability isanalyzed, but also the structure and theoretical basis of innovative abilityfrom the aspects of psychology and pedagogy is given.Secondly, the third one is the main part of this paper. It hasemphasized on analysis of students' thinking characteristic and thecharacteristic of physics itself in senior physics teaching. It also hasdiscussed how to carry on the innovative teaching in the steps of class.Those steps include classroom concept teaching, experimental teaching,researching study, training, multimedia assistance teaching and so on.New teaching models that combine the reform on education withinnovation in teaching is explored. Thirdly, the teachers' position and function in developing students'innovative ability is discussed, such as building a new relationshipbetween teachers and students, new viewpoint of teachers. new teachingmethods, a new form of innovative exercises, teachers' professionalaccomplishment and the innovative teaching ability and so on. Also itcontains a part about the connection between the training of innovativeability and teaching estimating and reform on tests based on therelationship between training of students' innovative ability and theestimating system of senior physics teaching.Finally, it points out that there are still some problems existing in theresearching work and what we should work hard at in the future.
