The study on mathematical culture in the textbooks started in the new curriculum reform that began in 2001. The material of mathematical culture is the necessary conditions for teaching. It is a hot issue to analysis the content of mathematical culture in the junior mathematical textbooks. It is an important explore way to contrast mathematical culture in junior mathematics textbooks of different versions. In this paper, I would like to do something meaningful on the research and exploratory work.At first, this paper discusses mathematical culture in junior textbooks. The mathematical culture connotations are analysised in the view of wealth theory, group theory, the spirit of rational and systematic theory of mathematical culture. Based on the contrasting and thinking about curriculum's morphology and textbook's morphology, what mathematical culture in junior mathematics textbooks can be evaluated may include the content of mathematical culture expressing the using value and the content of mathematical culture expressing humanities. We analysis the educational values of mathematical culture in junior textbooks from three aspects: mathematical culture's influence on students' spirit; the value of mathematical application; the humanities educational value of mathematical history. In order to contrast mathematical culture in junior mathematics textbooks of different versions, we take an empirical research about junior students and math teachers in this paper, which is to understand their understanding about mathematical culture of textbooks. Through researching mathematical culture in different versions of textbooks, it is found that the structure of four new versions mathematical textbooks in contacting daily life, society and other subjects are similar: first is day-to-day life, followed by the community, and finally the other subjects; difference from the old version's priority of our social situation. Four new versions have similar in the content of the using value, as same as the old version of textbooks. Four new versions of textbooks set up different number of the content of mathematics history in different content of mathematics, and their number is more than the old version's. Both of the old and new versions textbooks set up a lot of mathematics history in geometric than in algebra. Through the above investigations and studies, this paper puts forward some suggestions and thinking in the following areas: building a harmonious mathematical cultural system; outstanding the attributes of mathematical culture in textbooks; riching mathematical history's materials in textbooks.
