Comparative Research On Contents And Compiling Characteristics Of Some Basketball Books Between America And China

This paper mainly concentrates on the contents and the compiling characteristics of some American and Chinese basketball books. The author reads large quantities of American basketball books and analyses the system and the contents of skill and tactics of them, concludes its background and causes by means of documentation, case analysis, questionnaire, comparative research, logic analysis and expert's interview. The author analyses the current situation and raises some suggestions for the compiling of Chinese basketball textbooks according to the differences between them. The author also analyses the compiling characteristics of American basketball books and put forward some suggestions for the compiling work of China. The findings of this paper are as follows:1. The technique system of some American basketball books are clear and logical, the thinking of the authors are varied and unique. The skill part of American basketball books is more detailed, practical and easier to operate. Both countries have similar views on the skills of foot and balance, control of the ball, dribbling, shooting and rebounding, however, they disagree on the skills of passing and catching, inside moving, one-on-one attack moving and one-on-one defense. The authors of American basketball books are deeply influenced by Dewey's view of pragmatism.2. The author finds America and China have the same viewpoint on the tactics classification system and disagree on the classification of delay offense, basic plays for offense and defense, transitional plays. On tactics contents, they disagree on the man-for-man offense, zone offense, delay offense, press-defense offense, regular offense plays, transitional plays, zone offense and press defense. American basketball books are more practical, creative, unique and informal than the Chinese ones, which concentrate on the tactics plays.3.
