With the new round curriculum reform," process and method" is first regarded as anindependent object fields gradually by the people. Modern society requires that people shouldhave the ability of life-long learning, and it is neither a time that only require die reading noronly to learn some knowledge can support the development of one’s life. Declarativeknowledge and status has been declining, and procedural knowledge has been paid more andmore attention, because procedural knowledge is able to let people have the ability to acquirenew knowledge. But the textbook, as an important medium of education, sho uld undertake theresponsibility to embody "process and method" education.In this paper, by comparing"process and method" of Chinese textbook and that of the United States of AmericaTextbooks: geology, geography environment and universe, it mainly studie s compilatorystrategies of "process and method" of American textbook in order to give our countrycompulsory enlightenment.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part summarizes a general present situation of "process and method" educationin the domestic and aboard research, along with the meaning and theoretical foundation of“process and method” in textbook, clarifying some misunderstandings of some people to"process and method" education, and make a clear clarification of specific meaning andcontent about "process and method" in geographical “process" and "method”.The second part states some strategies of geographical science process and method inChinese high school geography textbook (compulsory1) and existing problems.The third part generalizes a strategic process and method in American textbook“geography: geology, environment and universe”, and presents some examples to examinehow various strategies are applied in textbooks.The fourth part elaborates the compilatory strategies of "process and method" ofAmerican textbook in order to give "Compulsory One". According to the problems ofembodying the compilatory strategies of "process and method" in Chinese high schoolgeography textbook "Compulsory One", and in the textbook of the United States, suitablereflection of the compilation of geography process and method of education strategy in ourgeography textbook, the author tries to cite some contents of "Geography Compulsory One"as examples to illustrate some specific manifestations of these strategies in the textbooks.
