In New English Curriculum Standard, great importance has been attached to the students' emotional attitude training. Training students' English interest and motivation is put at the first place. English learning motivation is not only one of the most dynamic factors in language learning, but also a very important emotional factor to influence the outcome of students' English learning. Our predecessors have done some research on this issue and made some achievements worthy of our attention.Based on their studies, and guided by a variety of English learning motivation theories, the thesis introduces the theory basis, definition, classification, effect of English learning motivation and the study state at home and abroad. Then it applies questionnaire, classroom observations and interviews methods, and explores the situation of middle school students' English learning motivation, the characteristics and differences of different types of middle school students' English learning motivation, the change of middle school students' learning motivation during the specific teaching process and main factors that influence the development of middle school students' English learning motivation. According to the results, the study presents some strategies from the teacher and the school view that can foster and motivate middle school students' English learning motivation, which aims at improving their English achievement, and providing some enlightenment for to the middle school English teaching.
