As a special social group, the ability environmental adaptation of the freshmen whose major is Physical Education, not only directly impact on their current physical and mental development, but also has the profound influence in the development of the University with far-reaching implications, meanwhile has the latent important value to their future development. This research attempts to reveal the characteristic which Physical Education freshmen of Jishou University adapt to the environment, which aims to give a guidance for better adapting, simultaneously also to provide working reference for teachers and other educators.This paper effectively integrates the qualitative and quantitative methods, and researches the current status of environmental adaptation of Physical Education freshmen of Jishou University, through specific work practice and reflection, from the angle of the learning environmental adaptation, the living environmental adaptation and interpersonal environmental adaptation, using student questionnaires, interviews with teachers, student's forum, and participatory observation ways, etc. From the research, many characteristics are found as follows: Generally speaking, freshmen's environmental adaptation is a disproportional performance. There is no environmental adaptation significant difference among different sex, as a student cadre in middle school, as well as to be engaged in the different major. There are significant performance differences in environmental adaptation between urban and rural students. There are significant performance differences in environmental adaptation between the students owning close relationship with family and the general relationship one. There are significant differences in environmental adaptation between the student who lives in school at the middle school stage and the student did not resident in middle school. There are significant differences in interpersonal environmental adaptation between the only child and non-only-child. Freshmen's environmental adaptation may be synthesis influenced by many factors, like the school management system, teachers and administrative staff parenting style, class shape, relationship between teachers and students, curriculum and examinations, peer groups, campus culture, the employment environment, as well as networks.Thus, the paper attempts to provide the treatment attitude and strategy to environmental adaptation of Physical Education freshmen of Jishou University. Freshmen should actively seek the concept and method of self-adapt to the environment. The family should establish the good parentage and strengthen children's environmental adaptation capacity since childhood. The university should comprehensive guide the freshmen adapting to new environment. And society should strengthen the assistance of social groups to guide the freshmen through the standard mass media.
