This paper attempts to draw attention to a question: Does the middle school students'usage mode to TV have an influence on their emotional activation? What's like the influence? And then it reviews the theories or researches about emotional activation, the media effects involved emotion, and the usage mode to media. Based on above theories and researches, the paper deduces the relationship between middle school students'usage mode to TV and emotional activation. The class 2 students of Changchun's middle school were taken as samples and then were investigated by questionnaires on usage mode to TV and the scales on emotional activation. Then findings of the survey by encoding into SPSS 13.0 for data analysis, and many methods such as frequency analysis, correlation analysis and T-test were used of ,and the analysis included the following five aspects: (1) overall analysis of samples, (2) the usage mode to TV, including the exposure to TV, the use of situation, the choice of television content, (3) emotional activation scale analysis, (4) the relationship between the usage mode to TV and the emotional activation scale analysis (5) emotional activation and other variables analysis.The results indicate, that the middle school students'usage mode to media can influence their emotional activation:(1) different television media exposure of the middle school students has different influence on emotional activation extent;(2) the different situation when watching television media has different influence on emotional activation extent;(3) the contents of the different television have different influence on emotional activation(type and extent).
