Computer network, especially the Internet, is potential in providing an open, sharing,and individualized learning platform for learners. Self-regulated learning through Internethas been increasingly popular in the study society. Undergraduates are important humanresource for a country. Learning to learn, possessing life-long learning ability, is a basicliteracy of creative, high-quality human in contemporary society. How to cultivateundergraduates'self-regulated learning ability in the network environment, to makeundergraduates'utilize online learning resources more effectively has been getting moreand more attention from educators. Low self-regulated learning ability is not only causedby learners themselves'characteristics, but also results from unsuitable learningenvironments. It is necessary to investigate and analyze present status, problems, andcountermeasures in terms of contemporary undergraduates'self-regulated learning abilityin the network environment,This thesis first discusses the components of undergraduates'self-regulated learningability in the network environment. Then, through a questionnaire, this thesis investigatespresent status and existing problems of undergraduates'self-regulated learning abilityunder Internet, and analyzes the problem causation according to data of the survey. Third,this thesis proposes to combine cognitive flexibility theory and web-based courses as anintegrative strategy to solve discussed problems. Fourth, this theses furthermore suggestsan instructional model based on the combination of cognitive flexibility theory and webbasedcourse, which aims at the cultivation of undergraduates'self-regulated learningability in the network environment.
