| After WW II, the suburbanization of the United States continued and achieved climax. The Unites States become the most typical country with the suburbanized feature. The phenomena of suburbanization in the United States become the focus of the whole society. Most scholars home and abroad are absorbed in the research of the suburbanization and achieve plentiful and substantial productions. The thesis assimilates some viewpoint from previous studies, uses a method by integrating, comparing, qualitative analysis and quantifying, case analyzing, analyses the characteristics, dynamics and influences and so forth comprehensively, hopes to assimilate the successful experience and the failing lesson from the United States, provides reference for our country. Presently, some metropolises in China have a trend of suburbanization, which will bring a series of economic and social changes inevitably. Therefore, it is very important to research the meaning and essential of suburbanization for us. The thesis hopes to draw some attention from the profession-related person in theory and practice to make an accurate grasp and effectual guide.The thesis is composed of seven chapters. Chapter 1 is the exordium. It introduces the background, significance, idea and content, research methods, innovations and deficiency. Chapter 2 is the summary of the theory on suburbanization. It introduces the concept and relevant theories, sum up the research progress of home and abroad. So Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 play an introduction role for the thesis, lay a foundation for the further research.Chapter 3 states the postwar suburbanization and its notable features. By extensively suburbanizing after WW II, the suburbs gradually form some basic characters on space, management, foundation, social environment, population and family organization. Chapter 4 mainly analyses the dynamical mechanism of the suburbanization of the United States after WW II. Technology and Industry just serve as the base of a steady building. The Federal Government and some Real Estate Developers push the suburbanization powerfully. Certainly, the weltanschauungs of the bourgeois operate in an actively way too. Also the British Garden City Movement is an effective factor from outside. In Chapter 5, the author discusses the positive and negative impact of the suburbanization after WW II. On the one hand, it brings stability and prosperity for the suburbs, expands bourgeois and relieves the pressure of housing shortage. On the other hand, it harm the suburbs and central cities a lot in different way, lead a bad separation between different complexion. In Chapter 6,it cites Bedford, Irvine, and Levittown as examples, which proved the research above. Of course, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6 are the main parts of the thesis.Chapter 7 is the conclusion part of this thesis. By meditating and re-discussing the suburbanization of the United States after WW II, we should make a careful and comprehensive research to ask for answers about suburbanization in our country. |
