A Research On Problems And Countermeasures Of Out-of-school Activities For Teenagers

With the advancement of society and development of education course, out-of-school education of teenagers has been given great attention. As one of the major part of education for all-round development, out-of-school activities should take this mission and gain even emphasis with intramural education. After the foundation of PRC, the system of out-of-school activities has developed from scratch, showing trend of standardization and institutionalization, while the present promotion of the cultivation of innovative talents and the strategy of reinvigorating China through human resource development have put out-of-school activities for teenagers upon a historical stage. These activities are featured by specialization and legalization, get closely linked to schools and communities, take full advantage of social resources and help the all-round development of teenagers co-working with schools. However, under new social situations, it's unwise to avoid issues of under-development of out-of-school activities because it'll impede the functions of education and the cultivation of a new generation. Therefore, it's urgent to do research in this field, to uncover deficiencies and to put forward proposals.As one of the birthplace to have organic out-of-school organizations, Shanghai has always played the leading role in the development of out-of-school activities. Moreover, as the centre district, Xuhui makes itself the typical objective for research relying on its advanced and relatively complete facilities for out-of-school activities and its scientific managerial ideas. This paper centers on one of the major institutions inXuhui District for out-of-school activities------the Juvenile's ActivitiesCenter of Xuhui District. Based on the research approaches like literature analysis,interview,questionnaire and self-involvement, this paper investigates deeply into out-of-school activities managed by this center and hopes to provide sources of reference to other organizations alike.The first chapter of the paper elaborates on the background,meaning,approaches of research and results of relevant research as well. The second chapter gives a general overview of the historical development of out-of-school activities for teenagers, the current stage and existing problems of these activities and the necessities to organize them. The third chapter centers on the activities arranged by the activities center in Xuhui District and the teenagers' participation. In the end, the paper summarizes the features and problems of regional out-of-school activities and provides suggestions accordingly in terms of ideas,systems,assessments,integration of resources and so on.
