Trend Analysis On The Ideal Of Gender Diversity

The people who were born in 1980s (80's generation) are the first generation born after China's reform and opening-up. They have grown up in a relatively free and tolerant society. Because of the difference in socialization process, the 80's generation has some obvious group characters, such as being the focus of the whole family, independent and self-centered. Heavily influenced by the pop art and opener to foreign cultures, they are not satisfied with the old criteria and patterns, have their own way of thinking and sense of worth, and pursue insightful personalities and larruping.Most of 80's generation still hold the traditional social gender ideal while bearing various different ideal. These diversifications are due to the complexities and varieties of social environment, ideology, behavior pattern and the influence among each other. As a representative youth, the 80's generation begins to make a figure in social mainstream cultures. The changes of their social gender ideal stand for the changes of whole country's social gender ideal trend-traditional gender ideal is principal, with other different ideal as well, which leads to a fair, harmonious and cooperative social gender relation mode.In this study, both individual interviews and literature reviews were carried out to collect data. In data analysis, I used society construction theory to frame my theoretical support. Based on the changes of idea and behavior pattern, this paper shows the 80's generation's attitude toward the traditional gender ideal and the expectations to gender harmony, and provides vivid information about the current situation of 80's generation's social gender ideal and gender harmony trend. Besides, this paper also expects to demonstrate a clearer research skeleton by reviewing former relevant research data about the 80's generation.Due to the establishment of such factors as economic system, domestic policy, mass media and socialization of housework, social gender idael demonstrates the multi-dimension trend, which blends mainstream traditional gender ideal with diversity. Through analyzing the reasons of this trend, this paper argues the possibilities and inevitability of this social gender ideal, and then gives several theoretical promotions and policy suggestions in order to make the development of social gender relation become fair and harmonious. This paper is an fresh extension of research in the establishment of gender fairness from the perspective of construct theory, and also corrects misunderstanding for group characters of the 80's generation, sucha as independence, self-determination and anti-tradition. However, there are still some limitations in this study. The individual interviews mainly focused on the social gender ideal diversity about 80's generation.
