Writing is an important part in junior English language learning and teaching. Since junior high school students are at the primary stage of English learning, their study is plastic and they are easy to train. The students'writing habits, interests, ways and abilities shape easily, which, will undoubtedly influence the effect of language learning. Therefore, teaching writing effectively is obviously an important task.Students'writing starts to learn with writing the English alphabets and ends with the ability of writing some simple discourses such as diaries, letters, guided writing within around 80 words .The paper analyzes the situation of English writing teaching in junior high schools in China. Writing is neither much valued nor taught in an appropriate method in junior high school. As a result, there exist many problems in the writing habits and the consciousness of writing and so on in the students'confidence of writing. With consideration of these problems and of the demand of English writing in the New English Course Syllabus as well as current research results on this topic, the writer believes that if we find what the main problems are, we can find the ways to solve them, therefore, we can improve the students written ability.The ways of research will focus on the students'writing work(setting up writing norms and counting writing mistakes and errors), then on questionnaire, finally on teaching research activity so as to study the writing quality, the exsiting problems and major causes.The paper consists of five parts: In the first part, the writer analyzes the situation of English writing teaching in junior high schools in China; The second part is about literature review. It introduces Flower and Hayes'writing models, Schema theory. TheThird part introduces investigation into the problems existing in English writing in junior high schools. The fourth part analyzes the result of the investigation and in the fifth part, the writer proposes three suggestions to solve the problems.This study is supposed to benefit English writing in junior high schools. Due to the limited number of samples, the value of this study undoubtedly is confined, which the writer will try to improve in the future.
